Through the exploration of materials, acknowledging their history, origin, & properties, we find connections between buildings, objects, art, and our world. Through intentional detailing, we convey the human touch upon these materials.

The spaces we create carry us through place & time. Architecture is active, imbued with its passage from the earth, by our hands, into structure. It is this experience we wish to understand, create, and share.

Studio North is led by Thomas Robinson, a designer, artist, and builder based in New York.

We design, engineer, manufacture, and construct architectural features and spaces—facades, specialty structures, interiors, and public works—for developers, institutions, and private clients.

We have worked alongside Diller Scofidio + Renfro at The Shed, developed award-winning facades with SHoP Architects on the Brooklyn waterfront, and delivered signature architectural elements for the Domino Sugar Refinery with Two Trees Management. Our portfolio spans cultural landmarks, commercial developments, private residences, and public art.

Our practice treats design and construction as a creative discipline. An idea only becomes fully formed by the process of building it, shaped by engineering, materials, and craft along the way. We carry our projects from early vision through finished construction, holding responsibility and integrity at every stage.
